My senior thesis project was inspired by my volunteer experience at the Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired. I wanted to create an experience where visually impaired people could fully participate in the art experience. I conducted research on how visually impaired people perceived textures and tactical movement, and then designed a 3-Dimensional contour form in Rhino3D. Using a CNC Mill, I carve the design into high density foam to create a unique contour for two elements, water and earth. After carving the design, I painted and added texture elements to the surface to create tactile interest for every audience. Along with the two pieces, I created a branding suite to complete the collection. The branding suite includes a primary and secondary logo, color scheme, typography pairings, and various deliverables, buttons, posters, survey cards, and a book.
